The Obama administration ushered in a new era of fuel efficiency standards today by announcing aggressive new regulations that will nearly double fuel economy by 2025 to 54.5 miles per gallon…

Frances Beinecke, president of the Natural Resources Defense Council, said consumers will eventually save money because they will spend less money for gas.

“These new standards‚will reduce carbon pollution that drives climate change,” Beinecke said. “That’s a win for everybody around the world‚Äîand a very big win for future generations.”
