    U-M study: New vehicle sales remain at record-high for fuel efficiency

    By David Shephardson, Detroit News, March 7, 2013 Washington‚Äî Amid high gas prices, thefuel efficiencyof new cars and trucks sold in February remains at a record-high. The University of Michigan said average fuel-economy value ofnew vehiclessold in the United States in February was 24.5 mpg.     2012 car buyers set record for fuel economy, researchers say

The average fuel economy for all vehicles sold last year climbed by 1.3 miles per gallon, or 6%, to a record high of 23.8 mpg, according to University of Michigan researchers Michael Sivak and Brandon Schoettle.
