Chrysler to announce investment in Kokomo, Ind., plants

by Tom Krisher Associated Press February 28, 2013 Chrysler will announce 1,250 new jobs and a major investment today at transmission and metal casting factories in the Kokomo, Ind., area. CEO Sergio Marchionne will confirm that the plans include an investment of $162 million and the creation 850 jobs at a former Getrag Transmission plant in nearby Tipton. Chrysler officials confirmed Marchionne’s visit, his second major public appearance in Kokomo since taking the reins at Chrysler, will be to announce investments and jobs to boost transmission manufacturing in Indiana. Ford workers approve new contract in Brook Park; new engine and jobs coming to plant

by Robert Schoenberger The Plain Dealer February 18, 2013 Brook Park Ford workers on Monday approved a new contract that guaranteed the plant a new product, most likely a fuel-saving four-cylinder engine that’s quickly becoming the automaker’s favorite motor. United Auto Workers Local 1250 President Mike Gammella said the new contract should keep the Brook Park site vibrant for years to come. Gamella has been lobbying Ford for small engines for years.
