    Smith Electric plans Chicago plant, 200 local workers

    by Julie Wernau The Chicago Tribune November 28, 2012 Smith Electric Vehicles is looking to build a new factory in Chicago and plans to hire 200 employees over three years to churn out 1,200 vehicles a year. Chicago would be Smith’s third location in the United States. The company, whose trucks are used by the likes of Coca-Cola, Frito Lay and FedEx, is headquartered in Kansas City, Mo. and has a manufacturing facility in New York City. Read more…
