Hyundai prepares to break ground in Ypsilanti soon

Hyundai is planning to break ground soon on an expansion of its technical center near Ypsilanti soon.

The expansion will include new labs and dynamometers for taking apart and testing vehicles. The South Korean automaker also expects the new technical center to grow at a steady clip in the next few years. The center, which Hyundai shares with its South Korean sibling Kia, currently has a staff of 200, which wlll grow by about 10 percent this year and probably by the same amount next year, Hyundai representatives said.
