Higher vehicle fuel efficiency standards will save money at the pump, create jobs

Gas prices go up, we feel the pinch on our wallets, but we’re quick to forget it as soon as they drop again. It’s that short-term memory that unfortunately has influenced our attitudes on fuel efficiency in the past.

Longer term relief is in sight, as the administration ushers in higher standards that will help drivers go further than ever before on a gallon of gas. In August, the White House announced the finalized cleaner car standards that will increase fuel efficiency to the equivalent of 54.5 mpg for cars and light-duty trucks by 2025 ‚Äî the highest in a generation…
