GM to build Cadillac ELR plug-in at Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant

General Motors Co. will build its new Cadillac ELR plug-in electric luxury coupe at Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant, beginning late next year, GM’s North American President Mark Reuss said Tuesday.

The Detroit-Hamtramck plant, which employs about 1,560 workers, also builds the Opel Ampera for European markets, the Holden Volt for Australia and Chevrolet Malibu, and also will build the all-new Chevy Impala, which will begin arriving on dealer lots early next year.
