Ford to add 225 workers at Sterling Heights plant to build hybrid transmissions

Ford’s decision to make its own transmissions for hybrid and electric cars has created 130 jobs at its Van Dyke Transmission plant…

Ford plans to hire an additional 95 workers over the next six months, for a total of 225 new jobs.

“It was a ghost town,” Robb Miller, plant chairman for UAW Local 2280, said of the idled portion of the plant. “We’ve been watching it over the last 18 months go from ugly to gorgeous.”
