Feds tap Michigan for battery hubs

Washington — The Energy Department is expected to announce today a $120 million Manhattan Project-style effort to develop advanced low-cost batteries that can make electric vehicles affordable.

The new effort will include two “advanced battery hubs” in Michigan, which is home to many of the nation’s largest battery manufacturers.
