Green for Green: Volkswagen Opens $27 Million R&D Center in California

Volkswagen has a lot to be happy about these days. The German automaker has invested $4 billion into its U.S. operations, including the Chattanooga plant that opened last year, and now an eco-friendly research and development center located in Oxnard, California.

Volkswagen Test Center California cars parked 300×187 imageThe VW Test Center California is expected to become fully operational by this fall, with 50 workers focusing primarily on powertrain and systems development. Engineers will focus on reducing emissions and meeting federal standards for Volkswagen’s clean diesels and hybrids.
